About The Writer

At the beginning of 2021, I was living in a small town in Connecticut—bored, uninspired, and longing for a change of scenery. A few months later, I packed my bags and moved to Long Island, New York, after the opportunity presented itself to me. I call this my "God handing me my Golden Ticket moment," because it felt like the gateway I needed to start fresh.

Once moved here, I slowly fell in love with the region. The crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the gentle waters of the bay, the friendly locals, the charming North Fork farms, the luxurious and upscale Hamptons, this truly felt like another world from where I was from. One of the funniest things I constantly heard when I first moved here from Connecticut was, "Most people do it the other way around." My knee-jerk reaction was, "Why?"—utterly horrified at what "most people" were leaving behind.

I couldn’t help but compare my move to the storyline in Summer Magic, where a family, after falling on hard times, relocates from their city apartment to a rural town called Beulah. In the movie, the constable's son, Digby, says to the family, "Most people move away, to the city." But to Nancy, the main character (played by Hayley Mills), the move is a breath of fresh air, seeing Beulah as a "land of promise, land of opportunity." That’s exactly what Long Island has been for me—a fresh start and a new beginning, full of places to explore and people to meet.

This blog is dedicated to all the fellow "transplants" who have found themselves on Long Island and are making the most of their time here. I’m excited to share my love for Long Island with all of you.
